The Access Center Technology Specialist is a support staff position reporting to the Manager of the Access Center for Disability Resources. This position is responsible for providing technology related accommodation support services to Access Center students including but not limited to assistive technology, alternative format textbooks and course materials, testing accommodations and note taking. The position provides support for the technology needs of the department, serves as a subject matter expert and consults with campus stakeholders regarding accessibility of technology.

Maintain technology for department including databases, electronic signature software, form development, department website pages and learning management system pages/courses.

Develop and conduct assessment of assistive technology skills/needs with students.

Make technology recommendations and train students how to use recommended technology.

Ensure timely delivery of accessible course materials including collaboration with other departments and remediation of materials.

Collaborate with various departments to provide training, consultation and expertise regarding accessible technology, accessible content development and delivery.

Research, preview, evaluate, and make purchase recommendations of assistive/accessibility technology.

Lead or collaborate on departmental projects and initiatives.

Participate on college committees as appropriate.

Maintain appropriate documentation.

All other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma

Two years of technology-related experience

Working knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and best practices
(ADA, Section 504, Section 508, WCAG standards and Universal Design for Learning/UDL).

Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Adobe Acrobat

Working knowledge of assistive technology including screen readers (Jaws/VoiceOver), text-to-speech software and speech-to text software.

Ability to demonstrate flexibility and manage multiple priorities.

Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with students, staff, and faculty in a diverse work environment.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS

Proficiency or advanced skills in Microsoft Publisher, Adobe Acrobat and Adobe InDesign.

Advanced skills in Microsoft Word and Excel.

Proficiency or advanced skills with assistive technology including screen readers (Jaws/VoiceOver), text-to-speech software and speech-to text software.

Advanced knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and best practices
(ADA, Section 504, Section 508, WCAG standards, and Universal Design for Learning/UDL).
