Teach Adult Basic and Adult Secondary Education classes in Language Arts and Social Studies. Classes are designed to prepare students to pass the Illinois High School Diploma Exam (GED). Instructors will provide educational activities within the scope of a developed curriculum that assists students in achieving their goals. The use of multiple teaching strategies to serve the diverse needs of adult learners is expected.
High School Equivalency(GED) Language Arts classes meet face to face, 2 days per week from 6pm to 9pm Tuesday and Thursday. Spring classes begin January 21st, 2025.
Responsibilities
Deliver instruction and conduct assigned classes
Prepare lessons and syllabus based on approved curriculum and syllabus template
Ensure student enrollment, attendance, and grades are submitted in a timely manner
Work with Transition Advisors to insure student persistence and transition
Complete New Teacher Orientation
Fulfill State mandated 12 hours of Adult Education Professional Development per fiscal year
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Language Arts, Social Studies, Sciences, or related field
Strong technology skills
Experience working with diverse non-traditional Adult Learners
Desire to help change lives
Preferred Qualifications
Bi-Lingual
K - 12 Teacher Certification
Master's degree in Adult Education or Education related field
ICCB Adult Education Standards Certification training
Understanding of Canvas, DAISI, I-pathways, IXL, and CASAS a plus
